Jim Ellis is a Senior Consultant to the PRIsm consulting firm, with offices in Tyson’s Corner, Va. The firm and its companion company, Performance and Results International, specializes in government compliance, management consulting, and political analysis.

Ellis’ major responsibility is providing daily political analysis and commentary to many large corporations such as AT&T, UPS, DuPont, and Wal-Mart along with several lobbying organizations and trade associations such as the National Association of Convenience Stores and the National Cable & Telecommunications Association.

From 1998 to early in 2006, Jim was a leading political consultant to the majority leadership of the House of Representatives. During Jim’s tenure in this position, the political action committee under his direction increased its contributions to candidates and political entities from $391,000 to more than $1.4 million annually, and became the largest donating leadership PAC in both houses of Congress and, for a time, ranked 7th largest overall.

Jim is formerly the president of the Ramhurst Corporation of North Carolina that specialized in corporate grass-roots lobbying activities. From 1991-’93, Ellis was a manager of the Public Issues Department of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in Winston-Salem, N.C., and consulted with the corporation from 1989-’91 and from ’93-’99.

In the 1980s, Jim represented two other political action committees, the Free Congress PAC and the Right to Work PAC. He also managed Coalitions for America, the legislative advocacy arm of the Free Congress organization. In 1981, Jim became an original staff member to then-Congressman Bill Lowery, R-Calif.

Over the years, Ellis has consulted with organizations such as the National Republican Congressional Committee, the National Republican Senatorial Committee, and the National Federation of Independent Business. He has spoken before numerous campaign schools, congressional orientation sessions, and media training seminars throughout the United States in addition to an international trade conference in Mexico City, Mexico. He has been a regular political debate participant for WUSA-TV, the CBS affiliate in Washington, D.C., a guest on the Jim Bohannon national radio program and on XM Radio’s the Power with Raynard Jackson. Jim also appears regularly on the “Straight Talk with Melissa Hopkins” show on BlogTalkRadio.com.

Jim Ellis was born in Sacramento, Calif., and graduated from the University of California at Davis in 1979.
